I asked Nadine (http://nadinel.learnerblogs.org/) this question: What do you think of when you hear the words “United States.”? What are some symbols you would use to represent the United States?

Good question. Here goes:Well, when i think of “The United States” it makes me think of peace and beautiful places, like Hollywood! It makes me think of countries and states that are good friends and that respect each other and work hard to make their country a fabulous place.
The symbols I’d use would be the flag of course, and
also the colors of America. I’d also use some famous faces too maybe. To show the famous people of America because there are many actors and singers there!! I’d also use pictures of Americans holding hands and being friends showing peace.
And that is all i can think of!!

Going to high school is going to be a new experience for me but i cant wait. The one thing I am looking forward to is the sports. In high school they offer a lot more sports such as Basketball, Baseball, Football, Volleyball and many others. I play basketball and volleyball so i can’t wait to try out for the teams and hopefully I will make them.

In high school you get a lot more freedom and responsibility. You get to make your own course selections which means you get to decide what classes you take. This is unlike middle school because you have to take what ever classes they tell you to there. You are able to choose what level your class is so that it isn’t too hard or easy for you. There is going to be a lot more work and homework in high school but hopefully the teachers are nice and wont give that much. The teachers wont give us step by step directions on assignments we have which will make the classes less boring but the classes will be really long.

Another interesting thing about high school is that you have your classes with all different people. In one class there could be no one you know and in another you could have all your best friends. This is a great way to meet new people and make more friends. I cant wait until i go to high school.
